The dogs of days of August are returning to the area with heat, humidity and some thunderstorms — at least for a while.
Temperatures could reach the low 90s this week in Roanoke and other lower-lying areas.
Heat returns after an extended cool period in July that set low-record levels for the month.
But wait. Roanoke Times weather guru Kevin Myatt says another onslaught of Canadian air could arrive in 7-10 days and sent the thermometer southward.
While some rains are expected, dryer than normal conditions should continue for the first part of the month and perhaps later.
