Floyd County’s Varsity Buffaloes basketball team was 0-7 going into the First Bank of Virginia Christmas Tournament at Max Meadows but notched the team’s first two victories¬† to reach the finals against Radford Tuesday night and came close to winning it all.

After falling well behind early in the first half, the Buffs outscored Radford in the third quarter, taking the lead at one point, but accuracy at the free-throw line took away any chance of a win the Floyd settled for runner-up status with a 54-48 loss and goes into 2015 with a 2-8 record.

Will Cook sunk 17 points, Justin Cundiff 14 and Cole Harris 10.  Several of the Buffaloes losses this season have been close, including one in overtime.
