Floyd County High School’s Lady Buffaloes’ Ashley Gallilmore pitched, was relieved, then returned to the mound Saturday to strike out 14 and also deliver the winning sacrifice bunt in the 11th inning to score Amanda Whitlow from second and take the region championship final 4-3 against Grayson County.
A bunt earlier in the 11th from Mary Phillips put Whitlow on second and set to score on the hard bunt from Gallimore.
Floyd, now 19-7, will open play in the Virginia High School League state tournament at 10 a.m. Friday at Radford University. A win in that game will match the Lady Buffs with Grayson County again at 1 p.m. the same day.

Amanda Whitlock scored the winning run in 11th inning (photos from earlier region playoff game this season).
FYI: If they win Friday, they will either play Grayson or King William at 1:00 on Saturday.
