The “Blue Moon” that appeared over Floyd County, the Old Dominion, the country and the world was not very blue but at least it was something to see.
Friday night was also one of those crystal clear nights when the moon was fully visible in the night sky over out county.
Photographed with a Canon EOS-1D X at 800 ISO and a 300mm F/2.8 II Canon lens with a 2X Tele-Extender.
Full moons have always had a fascination for me. I shot moon photos most of my life and a lot during our 11 years back in Floyd. Also put together some videos.
One example below:
As I prepared for a nights rest I went outside on my deck to see the Blue Moon. Just like you I was amazed at the pure whiteness of the orb and thought that’s not Blue. I was content with the calmness of the evening, I reentered the darkened house only to notice that the moon light coming through the clear story lights were casting indeed Blue shadows off the walls and ceilings. This makes me ponder the source of light, the reflection of light and the shadows of light, in the relation to our souls, our beings and outward light. I think about our shadows as a common ground for a beings color.
