JV action in the Lady Buffs win over Carroll County.

For the second straight night, the junior varsity basketball teams won overwhelming victories in front of home court fans at Floyd County High School.

The JV Lady Buffaloes took the lead over Carroll County’s Cavaliers Tuesday and never looked back. ┬áIt seemed close at time in the first half but the girls took control in the second half and won going away. Their win Wednesday followed the boys’ JV whopping of Patrick County Tuesday night.

In the Varsity match Wednesday, the Lady Buffs took an early lead over the Cavs held a five point lead at the end of the first quarter and couldn’t pull away but still won 56-48.

Michaela Thompson put in 18 points, including four three-point goals, and Abi Belsan stored 11 for the night in the losing cause.

The 2-3 Lady Buffs head to Gatlinburg, Tenn. for the Smoky Mountain Classic next week while the 0-5 guys face Basset at home Monday and Blacksburg on Wednesday.
