Floyd County High School’s Lady Buffaloes took down Martinsville’s Lady Bulldogs 51-47 in the Conference 38 final Friday night at James River High School near Buchanan Friday night, revenging two regular season losses and winning the conference.
The win gives the Lady Buffaloes home court advantage in a regional opener next week against Chatham.
Abi Belshan’s game high of 26 points included a steal and layup that kicked off a comeback from an 11-point deficit against the always tough Martinsville’s team and then contributed two free throws, another layup to continue cutting into the lead before Michaela Thompson tied the game at 43.
Mallary Cox, took a rebound and scored back to take the lead 49-47. Martinsville never scored again.
