Temperatures aren’t the only thing up during FloydFest this year. The National Park Service brought in reinforcements this weekend to step up the heat on speeders and other violators on the Blue Ridge Parkway near FloydFest.
The flashing blue lights of both marked and unmarked Park Rangers could be found on the Parkway north and south of the entrances of the FloydFest site and an unmarked, white SUV caught many speeders unawares in their journey to the festival.
I also saw Park Rangers searching a number of cars on Thursday and Friday.
While not as overbearing as the actions of the now-disbanded “Criminal Interdiction Team” in 2007, the Parkway police effort is definitely a step up in enforcement activity from the last three years.
Let’s be careful out there.
